F.A.Q. for Avia software

Q: Can I install the software on more than one computer?
A: Yes, you can install multiple times from the same download. Only the Master application is licensed, so only install and register it on the computer that connects to the boats network. Slave versions get data through the network from the Master.

Q: My hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall the software.  The program won't accept my old License Code. What do I do?
A: Email support@aviadesign.com with the Installation ID which shows in the Register form. We will send you a new License Code.

Q: I bought a new computer. How do I move the program?
A: Reinstall on the new machine. Download again if you lost the original files. Then email us at support@aviadesign.com with the Installation ID which shows in the Register form. We will send you a new License Code.

Q: Some of the numbers do not appear. What can I do?
A: This indicates that the data is not present on the input.  Check all connections and make sure that the data is present. Avia Sail can produce a log file of incoming data. It is found in C:\Avia Logs. Only master or standalone modes can make a log. It is activated with a button in the setup screen on the Data In tab.

Q: Must the computer be connected to the internet?
A: Yes, but only during installation. Some Microsoft.NET files need to be installed. We are looking into making these files available to download for installation on another computer.

Q: What is the minimum spec for satisfactory operation?
A: Atom computer, minimum screen resolution of 800x600. Pretty basic. It needs to be running XP Home or higher. Sorry, it won't run on a smartphone.

Q: The program runs fine but it doesn't look right, the fonts are different from your examples.
A: You can now select your own font from those installed in your computer, on the Dashboard tab in the setup form.

Q: What programs do I need for "live" use onboard .
A: Just Avia Sail Lite or Pro. Only the Pro version can repeat data over the boat's network to other computers.

Q: I have an older boat with only NMEA0183 instruments. Do I need a "dongle"?
A: No, and you can save some money. If you only have NMEA 0183 data, the program handles up to 3 separate serial ports avoiding the use of a multiplexer in many cases.

Q:When will Avia Motoring be available.
A: It should be finished in time for the fall boat shows.
